A spot that is still forming and a pit that has been there for years do not share a calendar
Most people who ask about acne and laser are describing two problems at once: lesions that keep arriving, and texture left behind after older ones healed. The Aerolase Neo Elite can be discussed for both. The intervals, the number of visits, and the honest ceiling are not the same.
Flat brown or grey stains where a spot used to be are pigment, not a scar you can feel. Those belong on the pigmentation and melasma page, and sometimes the right advice is sunscreen and time. Book a consultation at Nurse Injector Shayse so the three are not bundled into one series.
Two plans, on purpose
Active acne on this menu is commonly 3 to 6 treatments, every 1 to 4 weeks. The 1064nm wavelength is used because it can reach sebaceous areas and the small vessels that make a breakout look red. It is usually paired with a skincare plan. It is a poor substitute for medical care when lesions are deep, cystic, or painful.
Textural scarring is commonly 4 to 8 treatments, every 2 to 4 weeks. That is the longest range on this clinic's menu, and it should be said before anyone starts. Improvement, when it happens, is gradual and comes from remodelling, not from filling a pit in one afternoon. Rolling or depressed scars and raised scars are assessed differently. Ice-pick scars that are narrow and deep are the pattern most likely to disappoint if the expectation is a smooth cheek.
Deeper skin tones can be treated with this wavelength, and they are also the tones that most often develop post-inflammatory pigment if the skin is pushed. A cautious first visit is part of the plan, not a delay tactic. The full laser table, including these two rows side by side, is on laser treatment in Edmonton.
What the short pulse is aimed at
Each pulse from the Neo Elite lasts 650 microseconds. For inflamed acne, settings are chosen around redness and the oil gland region. For a scar, settings are chosen around dermal remodelling. Doing both in one hour still means two intentions, not one slider. The surface is not removed. Numbing cream is usually unnecessary, which matters if the face is already tender.
Wavelength, licensing, and how this differs from IPL are written up on the Aerolase hub. This page stays with the acne question so the two do not become copies of each other.
Microneedling is the modality many people already know for scar texture, because the injury is mechanical. It does not deposit energy into the vessels around an active lesion the way 1064nm can. If the face is quiet and the request is only pits and roughness, microneedling may be the conversation. If lesions are still arriving, laser may be discussed first or the two may be sequenced once the skin is calmer. General roughness without scars is a third path, described under skin texture.
What the weeks between visits are for
Active acne is spaced more tightly, sometimes as often as weekly, because the lesions turn over faster than collagen does. Scars are spaced wider so remodelling can happen. Judging a scar series after two visits will make it look like nothing occurred. That is expected, and it is why the longer range is explained up front. Results vary by individual.
Downtime is usually extra redness on skin that was red already, not a peeled face. Keep hands off the lesions. Pause harsh leave-on acids if you are told to at the visit. A wedding or grad photo in the same week as a first scar treatment is a scheduling mistake the assessment is meant to catch.

Fees, including courses longer than six
$450
per treatment, face and neck included
Three treatments are $1,200. Six treatments are $2,100. Prices are before GST. Active acne often lands inside those two blocks.
Scarring that runs to 7 or 8 visits goes past the printed six-visit fee. That remainder is quoted at assessment rather than guessed on a webpage. The menu does not list an eight-visit bundle.
Chest or back acne as an additional area is priced from the same $50 add-on used for chest, hands, or a skin tag, when that add-on applies. Ask, rather than assuming the face fee covers the back. Results vary by individual.
When a physician should be in the plan first
- Deep, cystic, or nodular lesions, or acne that is scarring while it is still active
- Oral acne medication (oral retinoids) in the last 6 months. Laser waits. The length of the wait is decided from your history, not from a slogan
- Infected skin, a cold sore in the field, or a lesion you are not sure is acne
- Pregnancy, a photosensitising antibiotic, or a tan you are still peeling
- A flat stain with no texture change. Treating that like a scar can prolong the colour
Laser may help improve the appearance of breakouts and of older texture. It is not medical acne care. Book a consultation at Nurse Injector Shayse, and say who prescribes for you.

Acne and scar questions
How much does acne scar treatment cost in Edmonton?
Aerolase Neo Elite visits are $450 each at Nurse Injector Shayse and include the face and neck. Active acne is commonly planned as 3 to 6 visits, so a series may be $1,200 for three or $2,100 for six. Acne scarring is commonly 4 to 8 visits, starting from $1,200, with longer courses quoted after assessment because eight visits is past the printed six-visit fee. Prices are before GST. The two plans are separated at the in-person assessment. Results vary by individual.
How many sessions are typical for acne, and for scars?
On this clinic's laser menu, active acne is commonly 3 to 6 treatments, every 1 to 4 weeks. Textural acne scarring is commonly 4 to 8 treatments, every 2 to 4 weeks, and it is the longest course listed. Those are ranges, not a booking you can copy into Jane. Depressed scars and raised scars are not given the same interval. Results vary by individual.
Is acne laser treatment an option on darker skin?
It may be, and the stakes are higher if you mark easily. 1064nm Nd:YAG is widely used for Fitzpatrick types IV through VI because less energy is absorbed by surface melanin. Post-inflammatory pigment is also more common on those skin tones, so an aggressive pass can leave a darker flat mark than the spot you came in with. Treatment is slowed or declined for that reason. Results vary by individual.
Does acne treatment with this laser hurt?
The 650-microsecond pulse is why anaesthetic cream is usually left off. Inflamed spots can feel sharper than quiet skin. A scar pass over a cheekbone feels different again. You are not expected to tolerate a setting that you cannot sit through. Say so during the pass.
What is downtime when the skin is already breaking out?
The treatment is non-ablative, so there is no resurfaced wound. Skin that is already inflamed can look redder for a short time. Picking, new active products, and sun all make that window worse. Most people are not hiding for a week. You will be told at the visit which products to pause. Results vary by individual.
Can laser replace acne medicine?
No. Laser may help improve the appearance of active breakouts and of the redness around them, usually beside a skincare plan rather than instead of medical care. Cystic or nodular acne, scarring that is still changing quickly, and anything painful or infected should be seen by a physician. Oral acne medication (oral retinoids) in the last 6 months means a waiting period before laser. Book a consultation at Nurse Injector Shayse, and keep your prescriber informed.
Separate the spot from the scar before you pay for a series
The visit names which pattern you have, whether laser belongs in it, and what the published ranges would cost. Results vary by individual.
