Roughness, visible pores, and crepey skin are three requests. Heat can only answer some of them.
"Resurfacing" gets used for everything from a weekend chemical peel to a laser that removes skin. The treatment on this page does neither of those extremes. It is a non-ablative 1064nm pass with the Aerolase Neo Elite, meant to warm the dermis so your own collagen response may follow over later months.
It is not radiofrequency and it is not ultrasound tightening. It will not replicate a surgical lift. If the concern is pitted acne scarring rather than general roughness, say that at the booking. The session ranges are different. Book a consultation at Nurse Injector Shayse before a series is chosen.
Who a collagen pass may suit
The typical request is overall quality: makeup sitting in rough patches, pores that look larger in daylight, or a fine crepe along the cheek that is there at rest. Sun damage often travels with that crepe. When brown spots are the main event, the sun-damage plan is the closer fit, and it is summarized on the laser treatment page.
All skin tones may be assessed. The 1064nm wavelength is the one most often discussed for Fitzpatrick IV to VI because it couples less to surface pigment. Heat is still heat. A first visit on richly pigmented skin is deliberately modest so the skin can show how it responds before anyone commits to a series of six.
Large pores have their own explainer at treatment for large pores. A pore is an opening around a follicle. Laser does not stitch it shut. Any change is a change in how the surrounding skin reflects light as collagen remodels. A longer read on what actually moves texture is how to improve skin texture.
Plain-language account of the pulse
The Neo Elite fires for 650 microseconds at 1064nm. For texture, the absorber of interest is water deeper in the skin, not a brown spot and not a red vessel. The pulse is short so the heat spike stays more local. The surface stays on your face. That is the whole difference from ablative resurfacing, which intentionally creates a wound you then heal.
Because the surface is intact, topical anaesthetic is usually skipped. The appointment is the passes themselves, not a numbing wait. Device names and the IPL comparison are kept on the Aerolase Edmonton page so they are not repeated as if they were a texture protocol.
Microneedling asks for collagen another way: controlled micro-injury from needles. It does not add laser heat, and it does not reach pigment or tiny vessels. Someone whose only complaint is roughness may be pointed to microneedling. Someone who also has blotch or redness may be pointed to laser, or to both in sequence. The clinic offers each, and the mechanism is the reason, not a ranking.
Timing: weeks between visits, months for the change
The published collagen row at this clinic is 4 to 6 treatments, every 3 to 4 weeks, with six visits listed at $2,100. Spacing exists so the skin can respond before it is heated again. Judging the series in the mirror a week after visit two will under-read it. Remodelling continues after the final appointment. Results vary by individual.
Same-day life is the usual downtime story: pink, warm, then ordinary. Flaking like a peel is not the expected pattern. If you are hoping for peeled, shiny skin by Friday, this is the wrong modality and you will be told that. Sunscreen still matters, because new ultraviolet damage works against the collagen you are asking the skin to build.

Menu price for a texture series
$450
per treatment, face and neck included
Six treatments are $2,100. Three treatments are $1,200 if the assessment stops there. Both are flat fees before GST, taken from the same Aerolase card as every other laser concern.
An added chest, hands, or skin tag is $50. Texture of the face is already inside the $450 visit.
Your series may be shorter or longer than 4 to 6. That range is typical, not a personal quote. Results vary by individual.
When to wait, or to choose something else
- You want a lifted jawline. Non-ablative laser is not that operation, and it will not be described as one
- The roughness is actually active acne or deep ice-pick scarring. Those plans use different intervals
- Acne medication (taken by mouth) in the last 6 months, pregnancy, a photosensitising drug, or a tan on the face
- Infected or broken skin in the path of the handpiece
- A history of pigment darkening whenever the skin is injured or heated. That history changes the settings, or cancels the plan
A chemical peel is another texture tool in the same clinic, with its own fee and its own downtime. Ask at a consultation at Nurse Injector Shayse which surface you are actually trying to change.
How the plan is set
Shayse Tulloch, RN. Texture consults at Nurse Injector Shayse are at 8813 63 Ave NW, Edmonton, inside Vivere Skin & Body. Sherwood Park and St. Albert clients use the same room.
She will tell you if microneedling, a peel, laser, or no device at all matches the roughness you are describing. The hardware write-up is the Aerolase hub.
Texture questions
How much does skin texture treatment cost in Edmonton?
Aerolase Neo Elite treatment is $450 a visit at Nurse Injector Shayse, face and neck included. Texture and collagen plans on this menu are commonly a series of 4 to 6 visits. Six visits are $2,100. Three visits, if that is all that is planned, are $1,200. Prices are before GST. The count is confirmed at the assessment after the skin is seen. Results vary by individual.
How many sessions does it take to change texture?
Collagen stimulation on this clinic's laser menu is commonly 4 to 6 treatments, spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart. The visible change is slow because it depends on your own remodelling, which continues after the last visit. Pores are not assigned a separate session count. Results vary by individual.
Is texture treatment suitable on darker skin?
It may be. The wavelength is 1064nm Nd:YAG, which dermatology often uses for Fitzpatrick types IV through VI because surface melanin takes up less of it. Texture work still produces heat, and heat can leave a darker patch if it is overdone. The first treatment stays measured. That call is made at the assessment. Results vary by individual.
Does a texture treatment hurt?
Numbing cream is usually not used, because the pulse is 650 microseconds. People feel a warm, repetitive snap as the handpiece moves. Bony areas and the upper lip are sharper than the cheek. Settings for a collagen pass are not the same as settings for a brown spot. You will be talked through the sensation for your plan.
What is the downtime compared with resurfacing?
Ablative resurfacing removes skin and needs days of healing. This treatment does not. Most people are pink and back to ordinary plans the same day. Makeup is often fine once the heat has settled. You should still keep the sun off the face while it is pink. Results vary by individual.
Will large pores disappear?
No treatment here erases pores. A collagen response may help improve the appearance of rough texture and of pores that look more obvious in certain light. How much that changes is individual, and it is not the same thing as surgically tightening loose skin. If the request is a lift, you will be told this laser is the wrong tool.
Look at the skin before counting visits
The assessment sorts pores from crepe from scarring, then puts a number of visits and a fee on the table. Results vary by individual.
